Measuring 2200mm in length with a 50mm spring steel shaft and 50mm Olympic sleeves, it can be used across a wide range of familiar barbell exercises while increasing the grip demand. Features The defining feature of the PRO Fat Barbell is its 50mm shaft with rotating ends. The larger shaft diameter increases the involvement of the hands and forearms, making it useful for adding grip demand to presses, pulls, rows and other barbell exercises. The bar uses a spring steel shaft with a tensile strength of 215,000 PSI and is rated to 450kg (1,000lb), providing the strength required for regular loaded training. At 25kg, the bar also provides a substantial starting weight before plates are added. The shaft is finished in black hard chrome, while the sleeves use silver hard chrome. Hard chrome provides a durable plated surface with resistance to wear and corrosion, helping protect the bar through repeated handling, loading and unloading. The shaft uses fine, grippy knurling to provide a secure grip across the 50mm surface. Dual IPF and IWF knurl marks provide reference points for consistent hand placement across different exercises, while the centre section has no centre knurl. The rotating sleeves use a combination of four needle bearings and four ball bearings. The bearings reduce friction as the sleeves rotate, allowing the weight plates to move independently of the shaft as the bar changes position through the hands. Each sleeve is secured using a dual clipped construction, providing a simple and reliable sleeve assembly. The 415mm sleeves accept all 50mm Olympic weight plates, allowing the bar to be used with an existing Olympic plate setup.
