One person engraves well in Mini through Medium; two people work best in Medium through Large; groups of three or more should choose Large or XL. What photo works best for the heart shape? A clear photo of one or two people, taken in good natural light, produces the sharpest engraving. The heart shape frames a face or a couple naturally — it works less well with wide group shots or photos where the subject is very small in the frame. The crystal itself is solid optical glass — water will not damage the engraving. We recommend keeping it away from direct prolonged sunlight, which can affect the display angle of the light base if you use one. It is safe for any indoor surface: desk, shelf, nightstand, or mantel. The crystal is not designed for outdoor use. What is the difference between Standard and 4K HD engraving? Standard engraving produces a sharp, clear 3D image suitable for most photos and display conditions. The 4K HD upgrade increases the resolution of the laser engraving — more points per cubic centimeter — which adds finer detail and smoother gradients, most noticeable in close-up viewing or with a light base.
