Decking Delivery's 3x3 Timber Fencing Posts are available in 3 lengths: 1.8m, 2.4m and 3.0m. We also sell sanded versions which are ideal to use for pergolas or as newell posts for decking. These are sanded all round and are smooth to the touch whereas standard fence posts are rough sawn. Why Choose a 3x3 Post for Your Fencing Job? A 3x3 post is one of the most useful bits of timber you can have in the yard. It's strong enough to hold a proper fence line, but it won't cost you the earth like the bigger sizes can. If you're building your own panels or replacing a few tired posts along the boundary, this is the size most people reach for first. Ours are pressure treated right through, so they stand up to the damp, the rot and the odd Bristol winter without giving you grief a couple of years down the line. We keep our 3x3 posts in stock all year round because we know how often they get asked for. Whether it's one post to patch a gap or a whole pallet for a full run, you'll get the same quality timber every time. Pick the Right Length for Your Fence Getting the length right saves you cutting and messing about later. Our 3x3 posts come in 1.2m, 1.8m, 2.4m and 3.0m, so there's an option whether you're setting a low garden divider or a full-height panel fence. As a rough guide, allow a good chunk of the post to go in the ground for a solid footing, then work out your above-ground height from there. If you're not sure which length suits your run, give us a ring and we'll talk it through. We'd rather spend two minutes on the phone than have you order the wrong thing. Build Your Own Fence and Keep the Cost Down The best thing about a 3x3 post is what you can build around it. Pair them with our 88x38 timber rails, 6x1 gravel boards and a bag or two of post-mix, and you've got everything you need to put up your own fence for a lot less than buying it ready made. It's a straightforward job for anyone handy, and the savings soon add up over a longer run. We stock everything in one place, so there's no chasing around three different merchants to finish the job. Order it all together, book your delivery, and get on with the work. Sanded Posts for Pergolas and Decking Not every job needs a rough sawn post. We also do a sanded version of our 3x3, smooth all round and ready for the eye. These are a favourite for pergolas and make tidy newel posts for decking where the timber is on show. Same solid quality, just a cleaner finish for the projects where looks matter as much as strength. Order Your 3x3 Posts Today Ready to get started? Order your 3x3 timber fence posts online in a couple of minutes, or pop into our Thornbury yard and grab them in person. If you need a hand choosing lengths or working out how many you'll need, our team knows their stuff, so give us a call on 0117 251 0092 and we'll sort you out. Setting Your 3x3 Posts So They Stay Put A fence lives or dies on how the posts go in. Dig your hole deeper than you think you need, drop a few inches of gravel or hardcore in the bottom for drainage, then set the post with post-mix and get a level on it before it goes off. Standing water around the base is what shortens a post's life more than anything else, so that bit of gravel at the bottom earns its keep. If there's a wind about, brace it and leave it to cure properly before you hang any panels on it. Rushing this bit is the quickest way to end up doing the whole job twice. Don't Forget the Cut Ends Pressure treatment soaks deep into the timber, but the second you cut a 3x3 timber fence post to length, you've opened up bare wood that never saw the treatment tank. Brush a coat of end grain preserver on the fresh cut before it goes in the ground and you'll get the full life out of the post. It takes about ten seconds and costs pennies. We keep a preserver on the shelf at the yard, so throw a tin in with your order and save yourself a second trip. Not Just for Fence Lines Plenty of the 3x3s that leave our yard never see a fence panel. They make solid gate posts, corner uprights for raised beds, supports for trellis and garden screening, frames for log stores and legs for a bench. Anywhere you need a sturdy square section that can handle sitting outside all year, this is a sensible size to reach for. It's worth keeping a spare one or two behind the shed for the jobs that crop up out of nowhere. Delivery Across Bristol and Beyond Posts are awkward to shift in a car, especially the 3.0m ones, which is exactly why we run our own tracked fleet. Order online and we'll get them out to you on a set delivery day, with a text and email the evening before giving you a two-hour window. Free delivery kicks in over £375 in our closest zone, and we cover a good stretch of the South West and South East Wales from our yard just north of Thornbury. Doing a full boundary or ordering regularly? Sign up for a trade account and get our keener prices on the bigger runs. Any Questions, Just Ask If you're weighing up lengths, working out spacings or trying to price up a full run, we're always happy to talk it through before you spend a penny. Order your 3x3 timber fence posts online whenever suits you, or ring the yard on 0117 251 0092 and we'll get you sorted.
