This new linen was created from the reproduction of the Old White Linen I had been using. Here’s the story: we sent instructions and a sample of both the Old White Linen and Montrose Linen to an Italian company to try to reproduce them. While their first attempt at the Montrose was spot on, they mistakenly thought we wanted a 40-count linen that was even weave with visible holes—not the 40-count embroidery linen we had originally requested. The fabric arrived after the sample was woven, and I had to reject it as a substitute for the Old White (the second attempt became the new Restoration Linen). But we loved the result so much that we decided to order a batch for counted samplers and whitework projects! This linen is ideal for those looking for a finer weave with clear visibility for intricate counting and stitching—perfect for your samplers or whitework embroidery projects.
