UES jeans are constructed as reproductions of vintage denim from the good old days, made with traditional manufacturing techniques with selvedge fabrics woven on vintage shuttle looms. The 400-R is their standard model, featuring a natural regular straight cut that achieves the look and feel of a vintage pair of raw denim, with a few minor modifications that modernize the fit and feel a little bit. The rise is slightly shorter than a pair of vintage jeans (which often had quite high rises), and the rear pockets are also a little smaller than a vintage example. The denim is a UES original fabric, their 14.9oz brown cotton selvedge denim. This fabric is woven from a blend of bespoke and brown cotton yarns, which are spun together and then deeply rope-dyed in indigo to give the denim a darker indigo colour, and then finally woven into denim on vintage shuttle looms.
