The story of the 400 Rabbits is a folk tale from Mexica mythology about a group of divine rabbits who were the children of the Aztec goddess Mayahuel and the god Patecatl. The rabbits, also known as the Centzon Totochtin ("four-hundred rabbits" in Nahuatl), were tasked with guarding Mayahuel's pulque, the fermented sap of the agave plant. However, the rabbits became drunk on their mother's milk and instead of guarding the spirits, they drank them all and partied.
