DESCRIPTION This jacket was produced in Sweden sometime during the 1930s or 1940s. There is no label indicating the manufacturer, but these jackets were commonly made in Malung and surrounding areas throughout much of the 20th century. Malung is a town in central Sweden. In the collar, there is a label reading "Äkta getskinn," which translates to "real goatskin." These jackets are known in Sweden as bryggarfrackar (literally "brewer’s tailcoats"). They were popular for many decades and were worn across various professions. One of the major benefits of this style is its excellent mobility, as it is designed to fit snugly. This particular jacket is in a medium brown tone with a lovely patina. It is double-breasted with a total of five rows of buttons. The buttons are made of corozo, though at the time the jacket was made, the material would have been referred to as "stennöt" (stone-nut). The jacket features horizontal front pockets with flaps, and the breast pocket also has a flap. The back has an adjustable buckle to tailor the fit. Inside, it is lined with a thick, patterned wool fabric. It has an inner pocket on the left side, and beneath the pocket is a small plaque with the original owner’s initials. Along the lining, there is a stamped emblem of three crowns, which indicates that the jacket at some point belonged to the Swedish military. The condition is overall good. There are some minor flaws and general signs of use, which is typically referred to as "patina." There are a few small tears in the leather on the left shoulder. Some wear is also visible around the buttonholes. The leather’s colour shifts slightly in different parts of the jacket, but this adds to the charm of the material. Please look at the photos and form your own opinion of the condition. SIZE The jacket corresponds to a modern EU 46 (US/UK36). It is not recommended for anyone over 180 cm in height, as the jacket may feel too short, particularly in the sleeves. Please scroll down for the exact measurements.
