Hornby R3239 OO Gauge BR(S)700 Class 0-6-0 Goods Engine BR Black Livery with Late Crest A detailed model of the LSWRs' small but highly successful 700 class of 0-6-0 goods engines, nicknamed 'Black Motors'. This model is painted in the later British Railways black livery. DCC Ready 8-pin decoder required for DCC operation. The entire class of 30 locomotives was built at Dubs & Company (Glasgow) in 1897 to the designs of the LSWRs' Scottish locomotive engineer Dugald Drummond. The class proved to be well designed and built, requiring few modifications and surviving as a complete class until 1957. Using a boiler common to the M7 class 0-4-4 tank locos and having a useful mid-range tractive effort of 22,487lbs no doubt contributed to the survival of a quite small class of goods engines.
