This piece is part of the Landscape Collection inspired by my year-long residency on the Fiscalini Ranch Preserve, one of the last unspoiled public open spaces along the California coast. Display or use as a vase. THE STORY: Wherever your walk takes you on the preserve, you'll see layers of color, texture and pattern. The landscape varies with each step, an experience I tried to convey on this vessel. ABOUT: This piece is handmade from slabs of clay. After forming, I cut and altered the piece to add embossed areas with plants and branches. I added other marks and stamps to give visual interest to the form and lead the viewers eye through the "landscape" of the vessel. The piece is multi-fired with underglazes and glazes to achieve various colors and textures. Like the landscape it represents, it looks different from every angle.
