HOZU BAG HISTORY Retired paragliders. After years of flight, the fabric eventually reaches the end of its life in the sky. Rather than discarding these materials, HOZU BAG reconsiders them as resources with the potential for a new purpose. Materials once carried by the wind are brought back into everyday life. Through this transformation, new value emerges. This initiative began in Kameoka, Kyoto, following the city's Plastic Waste Zero Declaration in 2018. Used paragliders are collected, carefully reworked within the local community, and transformed into bags. Retaining the memory of the material while giving it a new form. An ongoing exploration of how objects can continue to exist and evolve over time. Name Origin HOZU takes its name from the Hozu River, which flows from Kameoka to Arashiyama in Kyoto. Like the river, the project seeks to connect place, people, and time through a continuous flow. ITEM / TOTE BAG L A generously sized tote designed for everyday flexibility. Ideal for grocery shopping and daily errands, it also works well as a travel companion or whenever you need extra carrying capacity. Spacious without feeling oversized, it offers a comfortable balance that naturally fits into everyday life. Its versatility allows it to adapt to a wide range of uses and occasions. COMPOSITE CUT COMPOSITE CUT is a series developed to maximize the use of retired paraglider fabric with minimal waste. Each piece features a patchwork composition made from three randomly selected colors. Because the placement of the fabric varies with every cut, the color balance and arrangement are unique to each bag. No two pieces are exactly the same, making every bag one of a kind.
