Richard Van Wingerden This 1940-50s ink on paper board carnival scene is by Dutch-Californian Expressionist Richard Van Wingerden (1893-1969). A WPA artist, Van Wingerden studied w ith Thomas Hart Benton at the Art Students League in New York and with Benjamin Bufano and Spencer Macky at the Mary Hopkins Institute of San Francisco. Van was a political activist as a member of I.W.W. and the Debs party. In the 1960s, Van was part of the Sausalito Teahouse Group with Ross and Eileen Curtis in Marin. The group used an early 1900s Japanese Teahouse as a studio and exhibition space. 1940-50sInk on Paper Board15"x11" unframed Signed lower right. Good vintage condition. Show more
