The UV1 is designed to dramatically increase versatility and durability, incorporating the latest technology and thinking. The drum head is the result of a combination of Evans' proprietary UV curing coating technology, a new film, and LEVEL360 Technology. UV coating is different from other common coatings currently available and boasts overwhelming durability, making it recommended for drummers who are troubled by peeling, chipping, and wear of their coatings. The tone is similar to that of the EVANS G1, but the coating is thinner, more uniform, and more open than previous coatings. The response is particularly high and sensitive when playing with brushes. Another key point is that the coating is not applied to the entire head, but only to the flat part of the striking surface, excluding the bearing edge and the collar (outer circumference) that rests on the hoop, so that the vibration of the head is not interfered with and it resonates. The new film has a warm tone character and is resistant to dents and stretching. Combined with UV coating and LEVEL360 Technology, the UV1 is the most versatile and durable 10mil drum head available.
