Please note Wire thread inserts cannot be measured in their free state as they expand upon installation. Once correctly installed, these inserts will have a fitted length of 0.469" less the ½ pitch allowance needed to ensure the insert’s effectiveness. The only way to measure an insert before installing it is to count how many coils it has. A 5/16BSFx1.5D insert should have between 7.7 - 8.5 coils.
