Studio Hours:Thursdays & Fridays - Evenings 7pm to 9.30pmSaturdays - 9.30am to 12pm, 12.30pm to 3pm This 5-session handbuilding course introduces ceramics through a slower, more tactile way of working with clay.Without the wheel, forms are shaped gradually by hand, allowing students to experience the material directly through touch, pressure, and time. The course focuses on creating functional tableware while developing an understanding of structure, balance, and surface. Subtle variations and marks of the hand are embraced, giving each piece a sense of warmth and individuality. Designed for complete beginners, as well as those curious to explore a more process-led approach to making everyday wares What you’ll experience Learning foundational handbuilding techniques such as pinching, coiling, and slab construction Understanding clay thickness, structure, and form stability Building functional forms including bowls, plates, and small vessels Refining surfaces and edges once the clay has set Glazing and finishing pieces for everyday use What you’ll makeStudents typically complete 5-8 functional tableware pieces, depending on individual pace and approach.________ Basic Class Outline:Class 1 - Clay preparation, pinching techniques and forming simple vessels while understanding thickness and formClass 2 - Pinching & Coil-building techniques and joining methods.Building cups, bowls and goblets with focus on structure and balance.Class 3 - Slab construction and flat forms.Creating plates and simple slab-built tableware while considering edges and proportions.Class 4 - Creating a set using previously learned techniquesClass 5 - Painting & GlazingOur workshops are beginner-friendly so all can join us! Duration: 2.5 hours per session(once every week for 5 weeks, or you may choose to come for more than 1 session per week) *Our courses are guided, small-group experiences designed to support learning at a comfortable pace. The pieces will be ready 3-6 weeks after the end of the course. All materials are included in the price. Beginner friendly & all levels are welcome. __________ 🌿 Attendance & Cancellation Policies To ensure a smooth experience for everyone and to respect the time and preparation involved in each session, we kindly ask that students take note of the following: Course validity 5-session courses are to be completed within 1.5 months from the start date. This allows some flexibility for rescheduling when needed. Sessions not completed within this period will expire, and extensions are not possible. Rescheduling sessions If you need to rearrange a session, we appreciate at least 2 days’ notice. We understand that unexpected situations arise, and will do our best to accommodate changes when sufficient notice is given, subject to availability. Illness & unforeseen circumstances If you are unwell, please inform us as soon as possible. Health always comes first, and we appreciate timely communication so arrangements can be made. No-shows Sessions missed without prior notice will be counted as attended and cannot be rescheduled.
