The 55NM82-004-5 is a low inertia, permanent magnet DC servomotor produced by global manufacturer, Pacific Scientific. Without an analog tachometer, it features a dual-channel optical encoder, without zero index, that generates square signals. The servomotor specifications including current and voltage ratings, along with a sequence number, are determined at the factory. The incorporated permanent magnet is developed using Alnico V-7 material, with the 55NM series not supporting forced air-cooling. The drive-end bearing journal of the motor has a shaft diameter ranging between 0.469 and 0.531 inches. The permanent magnet produces a fixed-strength magnetic field, suggesting the servomotor is ideal for applications with no requirement for speed control. The PMDC motor is comprised of a stator and an armature or rotor, located in an interior steel cylinder which provides a low-reluctance return path for magnetic flux.
