Sixth-plate, 1860s "relievo" ambrotype of a soldier in uniform, holding his gloves. The original photographer painted the back of the image so that the color would show through to the front. Ambrotype is behind mat and glass in its original hanging wall frame/case... there was never a cover. Overall it's in very good antique condition, as shown. A unique image!
