Active: This LED lights up when the input signal to the 545 exceeds the enhancement threshold. This is a very useful indicator when setting up the 545, as it will light up when the source you want as your main (such as a vocal) is passing through. Threshold - Sets the dBu level at which the Primary Source Enhancer begins to have an effect. Depth: Adjusting this knob sets the maximum amount of effect the 545 will have. In other words, it determines how much the input signal will be attenuated after it falls below the threshold. As you turn the DEPTH knob clockwise from 0dB to -20dB, the input signal will be attenuated more dramatically. Find the right balance between the perceived effectiveness of primary source enhancement and feedback reduction. FAST - An illuminated pushbutton selects between two time constants. It determines how quickly attenuation occurs as the incoming word or phrase ends and becomes quieter.
