Vancomycin hydrochlorid, an amphoteric glycopeptide antibiotic that is effective only against Gram-positive bacteria. The mechanism of action is that it can inhibit the insertion of NAM-peptide and NAG-peptide at the end of d-alanyl alanine, affect their participation in the formation of peptidoglycan skeleton, block the normal formation of cell wall, and finally lead to the inability of bacteria to survive. Vancomycin can also change the permeability of bacterial cell membrane and interfere with RNA synthesis.
