Timentin has a broad antimicrobial spectrum, effective against both Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria, as well as aerobic and anaerobic organisms. Its components are Ticarcillin Sodium and Clavulanate Potassium, with a ratio of 15:1 by effective acid content. Ticarcillin is a penicillin-class bactericidal agent, while Clavulanate is an irreversible and potent β-lactamase inhibitor. Many Gram-positive (G+) and Gram-negative (G-) bacteria produce β-lactamases, enzymes that can destroy penicillins before they act on pathogens. Clavulanate blocks these β-lactamases, breaking down the bacterial defense barrier and restoring Ticarcillin's sensitivity. Although Clavulanate Potassium has minimal antibacterial activity on its own, when combined with Ticarcillin, it forms a broad-spectrum bactericidal antibiotic suitable for empirical treatment of a wide range of bacterial infections. In research, it is commonly used to inhibit the growth of Agrobacterium, particularly in embryogenic callus regeneration systems, achieving excellent antibacterial and regeneration effects.
