In vitro cell culture often involves the addition of antibiotics to the culture medium to prevent microbial contamination. Among these, penicillin is the most widely used. Penicill in, streptomycin, and neomycin have a good combined antibacterial effect against both Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria, which can prevent bacterial contamination in cell culture.
