Renaissance polishing wax can be applied to solid surfaces of all kinds, e.g. wood, metal, marble, onyx, mother-of-pearl, stone, ivory, plastic, leather and even paper. In addition to its usual function as a furniture polish, many picture restorers use it to protect varnish-covered oil paints from problems caused by atmospheric changes. The polish also does a good job of reducing the luster of painting varnish. Dirty or fading colors of miniature oil paintings on ivory or leather get new freshness by cleaning with Renaissance.
