Extensive hand hammering initially creates a low-pitched foundation, then develops a rich tone. Full razing adds a bright attack to the stick definition, followed by a rich, low wash. The cymbal's weight balance is just right: it's thick enough to clearly define a powerful stick sound that drives a band, yet remains open enough for a thunderous crash.
