On offer is an unusual and intriguing 1870 travel diary penned, research suggest, by Mr. J.F. Smith who begins the book in the Wakefield/Barnsby area of England. Beginning January 1st the diarist fully writes up until the day his trip ends on April 20th when it seems he returns home to the shores of the USA. In fact it almost comes as a surprise that he boards ship. Also very interesting this diary which is in poor shape has a one page insert from an old November 1869 journal stuck in among the 1870 book.
