Legendary Gretsch artist Vinnie Colaiuta was looking for a versatile primary and secondary snare drum that would meet his needs on stage and in the studio. Working with the artisan s at the Gretsch USA Factory in Ridgeland, South Carolina, Vinnie created two stunning signature snares that captured the tone he was looking for. The main snare drum, a 14x5, boasts a wide dynamic range, a rich sound, and fast response, while the sub-snare drum, a 12x4, boasts a loud rim shot that's surprising for such a small diameter. Both the main and sub drums are finished in the original Cobalt Blue Gloss color, which was also used on the Gretsch USA Custom drum kit used on Sting and Peter Gabriel's Rock, Paper, Scissors world tour. The guitar features a 6-ply North American maple and gum shell with a silver sealer interior, a 4mm die-cast hoop, and a Vinnie Colaiuta-signed square emblem.
