Legends of Fuzz Series The JHS Pedals Bender is a reproduction of the 1973 MK3, known as the Onomatopoeia version, a silver and orange design that is one of the most prized pieces from Josh Scott's collection. This version features three very special germanium transistors that have captivated many players and have been around for over 50 years, but they are also quite finicky and don't always work as expected. Could we acoustically recreate this pedal and capture its sound in a way that was more consistent, more reliable in operation, and easier to manufacture? The answer is yes. The result is the precision and consistency of modern silicon transistors, capturing the touch, feel, and response of a vintage germanium fuzz pedal. The controls are Volume, Tone, and Attack. Volume sets the overall output level of the effect, and turning up the knob will produce a louder sound. Tone allows you to control the brightness and darkness of your tone, making the Bender a great companion for a variety of amplifiers and guitars. Attack controls the amount of distortion, producing a fuzzier sound as you turn the knob clockwise. The Mode button on the side of the chassis gives you access to the never-before-heard JHS Mode. Press the button to increase gain and boost the mids, helping your leads soar in the overall mix. In this mode, higher Attack settings will create a slightly gated fuzz depending on how hard or soft you pick. If you're looking for a fuzz that's somewhere between crunch and distortion, or a very aggressive fuzz, the Bender is perfect.
