Shibuya Guitars Station/ [The unique pickup that Mateus Asato sought] In 2015, two years after acquiring his iconic Shell Pink Classic S Antique guitar, Mateus Asato took the opportunity to replace the bridge pickup from an SSV with the release of the Thornbucker, which has received rave reviews from numerous artists, and has continued to captivate us with his many performances. In 2017, John Suhr began designing the Mateus Asato Signature Guitar and at the same time began developing the Mateus Asato Signature Pickup, which would respond to his musical sensibilities. The SSV-style wound coil produces a soft attack and smooth, warm sound, and the same Alnico IV magnet as the bright, wide-range Thornbucker combine to create a pickup that fully expresses his musical vision. Since the release of the Mateus Asato Signature Guitar, many guitarists have been requesting it to be added to their custom guitar pickup options and sold separately, and in response, it was finally released as the Asatobucker in 2020.
