This module aims to give architects a greater understanding of QMS for small, medium and large practices, best practice processes and how to implement (set up/operate) systems with in their own practice. The primary goal of quality management is to improve business effectiveness continuously. The module emphasizes this by highlighting best practice alongside appropriateness for practice/project size and complexity. This module will lead to increased understanding of QMS, its benefits and the requirements of RIBA Practices of different sizes and give awareness of the key elements of a Project Quality Plan and how this contributes to delivering quality outputs. The module will also cover the PDCA principles of ISO 9001, its components, different routes to implementing within a practice and also key considerations and pitfalls. Dr Teri Okoro Dr Teri Okoro is director of TOCA consultancy. Dual qualified as an architect and chartered project professional, a fellow of both the RIBA and the APM, she also has an MBA and board level experience. Her twenty plus years’ experience encompasses managing practices and delivering projects efficiently with a quality lens utilising QMS. She has direct experience of the RIBA QMS and ISO 9001 (in the final stages of achieving ISO 9001 for TOCA).
