Why double loop The reach gives you room to work under a buried rig, and doubling the shackle back on itself takes the working load up to roughly twice that of a standard soft shackle when winching or joining two ropes together. The standard has a tubular polyester chafe sleeve; the HD has a urethane-dipped sleeve for rough recovery points; the Double Loop is about twice as long so it can reach further or double back for more working load. When do I retire it?Inspect before every use. Cut or fuzzed fiber, a sleeve worn through, or glazing that suggests heat means it is done.
