Simple, easy-to-use 7/16 UNC hand tool with a slotted driving mandrel and adjustable depth stop collar that helps ensure inserts are installed correctly. For use with free running inserts only. Method of use: Place the insert onto the mandrel, locating the insert's driving tang in the slot. With the tang at the open end of the tool, adjust the collar to fit at the end of the insert. Adjusting the collar will help to prevent cross-threading of inserts during installation. If using fine pitch wire thread inserts, you will need to compress the free coils. Present the tool with the insert squarely over the tapped hole. Wind the insert clockwise into the hole whilst applying only a very light axial pressure. Avoid using downward pressure during installation as this may cause the insert to jump threads. Continue winding until the insert is positioned approximately 1/4 to 1/2 a pitch below the surface. Withdraw the tool. NOTE: Some adjustment of the collar may be required until satisfactory positioning in the tapped hole is achieved consistently. Show more
