Producer Penfolds is an iconic Australian producer that has been in operation since 1844. No other Australian producer comes close to the breadth and depth of Penfolds range, producing a large amount of wine in all different styles and price points. Their cornerstone product is the famed Grange, which is a multi-regional blend of Shiraz from some of the best sites in South Australia and is known to have a profound ability to be aged. A 'BIN' system is used to name a lot of their wines, BIN standing for 'Batch Identification Number'. Tasting Note Bin 407 is a multi-regional blend of Cabernet Sauvignon from some of South Australia's best Cabernet sites. After the popularity of the Bin 707, 407 was launched in 1993 as a more 'budget-friendly' option while still being very high-end. The 2008 vintage was a hot one, but careful harvest decisions, canopy management, and vine age kept the fruit protected. Thus, great producers with older sites like Penfolds still managed to produce beautiful wines.
