Due to its easy-to-wear nature, we recommend that you seal it before use. Most water stains disappear when dry, but if used without sealing, oil stains and stains from dark colors such as soy sauce and coffee tend to remain. ・When serving oily foods, soak them in water before use to prevent stains. ・After using the utensils, wash them as soon as possible and dry them thoroughly. Insufficient drying may cause mold and odors. Product characteristics/Handling precautions ・As it is handmade, there may be individual differences in color, shape, size, thickness, etc. ・There may be pinholes, and the pattern and color may differ. ・Recommended for those who want to enjoy the warm texture that is unique to handmade products, each with a different look. ・As you use it, it may become colored or darken over time. We hope you enjoy the change over time as a flavor. ・Penetration (cracks in the surface glaze) may occur during the firing process, but this is not a crack or damage and does not affect use. ・Prices may be reviewed or revised depending on the artist or pottery. Things you should know before purchasing What creates the expression of pottery are spots, scratches, unevenness in the glaze, shading, and bending of the shape that cannot be seen in mass-produced products. The charm of handmade pottery is that it may have pinholes, intrusions, distortions, etc., and is not perfectly arranged, but each one is slightly different in color, size, and shape, and no two are exactly the same. Please enjoy this once-in-a-lifetime encounter as these are the unique characteristics of handmade pottery. [Individual differences] Because each piece is handmade, there are individual differences in shape, size, and thickness. [Uneven color/uneven baking] Since the glaze is applied by hand, the glaze may not be applied evenly. During firing, the temperature varies depending on the location of the kiln, resulting in uneven firing. [Other notes] 〇Some items have hole-like irregularities on the back. 〇Products that have passed inspection by the pottery and artist are inspected again and delivered to the customer. Furutani Seitosho List Page Furutani Seitosho Koichi Furutani Born in 1979 in Shigaraki-cho, Koka City, Shiga Prefecture 2004 Started making pottery at Furutani Seitosho Special "Kohiki tableware" We work hard every day to create "Kohiki tableware" that are classy and warm, complementing any dish. We are also particular about the soil we use, and use our own unique soil for potter's wheel and tatara molding. The surface is molded from red clay, coated with white mud, glazed and fired. To make it comfortable to use and microwave safe, it is not coated with any chemicals or liquid ceramics after firing. Instead, by repeating the firing process called "honyaki" twice, the product is made more durable and of a quality that can be used safely in daily life. Thoughts on utensils "The most important time in daily life" It's a time when families gather together to eat dinner and relax while drinking tea or coffee. In order to make that time more fulfilling, we strive to create pottery that can gently be a part of people's lives. "Kohiki" is a white with a gentle expression. It's a simple white that complements any dish and can be used every day. In addition, the gentle, rustic earthiness that emerges from beneath the surface of the pottery gives it an extremely deep feel. We would be most happy if you could use and enjoy the warmth of our Japanese tableware in your daily life. Photo from the artist From a trip around pottery
