The Val-Pak generic Purex SMBW-2072 staked center rod is designed for compatible filter applications requiring a 45 inch replacement rod. Center rods are useful because they help k eep internal filter components properly stacked and aligned, which is especially important in larger assemblies where stability across the full length matters. This replacement is especially useful when the original rod is bent, corroded, or otherwise compromised during service. Because it is a long structural component, using the correct replacement helps preserve the straightness and consistency the filter assembly depends on to go back together properly. The 73659 is a practical rebuild part for service professionals who want internal structure restored with the same care as the visible exterior parts.
