The Microtubes B1K pedal packs one of Darkglass' most traditional distortion circuits into a portable, functional, intuitive and reliable form factor. Despite its small size, it combines intuitive, easily accessible controls with a rich tone. The two knobs on the top of the unit control LEVEL and DRIVE, while the back has trim pots for TONE and BLEND, and DIP switches for GRUNT and MBOOST.・Control (front) Level: Sets the volume of the overdriven signal. Drive: Sets the amount of saturation in the overdriven signal.・Control (Back) The magnetic bottom panel opens to reveal the controls on the back. Blend: Mixes the clean input signal with the overdriven signal. The clean signal is fixed at unity gain, and the volume of the overdriven signal is set with the Level knob, allowing for fine control over the blend ratio. Turning clockwise will blend in the clean signal. Tone: Controls the high frequency content of the sound. A variable low pass filter between 3kHz and 8kHz. Turn counterclockwise for a brighter sound. DIP switch Grunt: Boosts the low frequencies, making the sound louder and thicker. MBoost: Boosts the 300Hz to 1kHz frequency range by 6dB to create a bass sound that cuts through the mix.
