Otto Linkler's dark, husky, yet warm and inclusive sound has made him beloved by many tenor players. The baffle tip of the VINTAGE rubber model in the current lineup reproduces the crescent-shaped baffle seen only in the Early Babbitt period, shortly after production of Otto Link was transferred to Babbitt. This "Early Babbitt EB Model" also features a similar baffle, but by using the original mold, the baffle is higher and has a different crescent shape and angle and shape at which it drops into the chamber. While retaining the softness unique to rubber, the bright sound, clear attack, and good connection between notes make it a perfect fit for the modern jazz scene. It has been faithfully reproduced to its original design and has been revived in modern times. JJ Babbitt, which has been manufacturing mouthpieces for about half a century, continues to carefully store the many molds passed down from the Meyer brothers and Otto Link, even if they are damaged. The first in the "Connoisseur Series" of high-end mouthpieces has been released, featuring models that are now popular as vintage mouthpieces, created based on the original molds. While the outer shape of the mouthpiece remains the same as that of each current model, the interior molding uses a mold from the original that was stored at the time. Furthermore, the hardness of the hard rubber used is adjusted by extending the vulcanization time during production. We have also raised our inspection standards, allowing for more time for final finishing and inspection. The Connoisseur series was developed by three talented American jazz musicians: Mike Smith, James Bunte, and Mark Colby, who sadly passed away last year. The first two models in the "Connoisseur Series" are "Meyer Bros. NY" and "Otto Link Early Babbit." The legendary performances of jazz giants that remain relevant even after decades have been spun from this mouthpiece.
