The AT-222 series, a signature pedal made by CAT'S Factory, is a favorite of Akira Takasaki and is used in various situations, including on stage. To commemorate Mr. Takasaki's birthday on February 22, 2023, a limited edition "AT-222ODCB" all-in-one overdrive (OD) and clean booster (CB) model was produced. Due to numerous requests for the clean booster section to be released separately, the "AT-2222," the second version of Mr. Takasaki's signature clean booster, is now available! The first version of the AT-222, featuring a red and white rising sun design, had a GAIN knob and a switch to toggle between a "Regular" mode that reduced the high frequencies and emphasized the mid frequencies, and a "LOUDNESS" mode that provided a loud boost. However, this AT-2222 model is equipped with a BOOST knob and a BELLTONE knob. The BELLTONE knob controls harsh high frequencies, so it's recommended to adjust it by gradually lowering it from 10 (full). This allows for fine-tuning of the sound when combined with other distortion pedals and amplifiers. Furthermore, it employs a true bypass system when switched off, ensuring that the original sound is not compromised. While this is essentially a standalone clean booster version of the AT-222ODCB, it features revised components and an even more refined sound compared to the original AT-222ODCB. Each arcade cabinet has an elaborate design, but this time, the AT-2222 features a print in the center of the helmet worn by the samurai warrior depicted on the cover of LOUDNESS's album "SUNBURST ~ Gamushara," designed by Kamigaki of IC4DESIGN. The crest (ornament) on this helmet is modeled after a Random Star with a cloud-shaped mirror pickguard. Furthermore, the kanji character "晃," which is also Mr. Takasaki's signature, is printed beneath the helmet. CAT'S Factory pedals are used by leading guitarists and bassists such as Mr. Takasaki and Mr. Masayoshi Yamashita, but because they are only made and sold on a direct order basis by users, they are only available at a limited number of music stores. The AT-222 series, including models released so far, has received high praise from Mr. Takasaki. It's almost been 10 years since the AT-222, Mr. Takasaki's first signature pedal, was released, but the AT-222 is still in active use and is used in conjunction with the latest AT-2222 depending on the situation.
