Broadkaster Series The Broadcaster, with its warm, rich sound and deep, punchy 50s vintage tone, is back for the modern era! From the 1920s through the 1950s, Gretsch's flagship drum series was the Broadcaster series. Featuring a thin, three-ply shell, this legendary series was created without losing that "That Great Gretsch Sound." The advanced drum manufacturing techniques at the Gretsch drum factory in Ridgeland preserve the original sound and brilliance. The Broadkaster series has been brought back to life in modern times. The shells of the Broadkaster series are made of three ply North American maple/poplar/maple. Like all made-in-the-USA Gretsch drums, the shell interior is finished with Gretsch's exclusive "Silver Sealer." The shell is designed to ensure optimal contact between the bearing edge and the drum head. Gretsch's exclusive Reverse Round Over Bearing Edge is hand-finished. Each shell has a thin Interior-Ply scarf joint for added structural integrity. It also features Gretsch's proprietary "302" 3.0mm double-flange steel hoops. This hoop is similar to the "stick chopper" hoops used in the 1950s, but is designed to accommodate modern playing styles. Made from heavier gauge steel. The 302 hoops are more durable than the die-cast hoops used in the USA Custom Series. It creates an open tone and adds ambient overtones to the overall sound.
