Illuminator Bridge [DP257] (Black-Crem/Standard-Spaced) The Illuminator Bridge is a new generation signature pickup developed for Ernie Ball Music Man's John Petrucci signature gui tar, the JP13. John wanted a guitar that was "massively overdriven, tight, rhythmically aggressive" and when playing guitar solos, "more expressive, powerful and smooth" - a versatile sound that could be produced from a single guitar. The Illuminator delivers the sound he envisions, combining thickness with clarity and presence. Technical Notes The sound John wanted from the neck pickup was in interaction with the rear pickup. We aimed for each pickup to have a distinctive sound when used alone, but also to have a well-defined sound when mixed together. The DP256 Illuminator Neck model is significantly louder, has more headroom, and a wider frequency range than typical vintage pickups. When used with clean tones, it is extremely transparent and retains a warm, unclouded sound even when heavily overdriven.
