// Kelly Whistle / Low Whistle / Chieftain Custom D // This is the Optima low whistle in D from Kerrywhistle, a whistle brand created by Phil Hardy of England. Phil learned how to make low whistles from Bernard Overton, the original creator of the low whistle, and continues to research and improve the whistles of the past while following in the footsteps of the original whistles. The Chieftain Custom has an aluminum body with just the right weight, and produces a comfortable, well-balanced sound with a nuanced character. The finger holes are not too large, so you can play with a relatively small amount of breath, making it a great choice for those trying out the low whistle for the first time. ■Instructions for Kerry Whistle whistlesThe inside of the tube will be wet after playing, but there is no need to wipe it off. If the mouthpiece becomes dirty, the sound it produces may deteriorate, so if this happens, you can wash it by soaking it in hot water and using a mild dishwashing detergent. In addition, the plastic cases that come with all Kerry Whistle products are quite tight in size, about the same thickness as the tube (or even smaller), so there are many tiny scratches on the tube itself. You can remove the scratches by polishing them with metal polish or using another cloth case, but leaving them as they are will not interfere with playing the instrument. ■Maintenance points for Kerry Whistle whistles Kerry Whistle instruments are made of metal, so over time they can become discolored, especially from fingerprints, but they can be restored to a beautiful condition by polishing them with metal polish.■Specifications・Key: Low D・Total length: 56.5 cm Weight: 227 g Material: Aluminum Accessories: None Tuning possible
