The Broadcast AP-II is a dual preamp pedal designed in collaboration with guitarist Ariel Posen. It features two distinct, independent preamp circuits, each adding a subtle coloration. The first features silicon transistors and a transformer, delivering the smooth, dark tone of the original Broadcast-AP. The second eliminates the transformer, replacing the silicon with germanium transistors for a brighter, more aggressive tone. Each circuit offers a wide gain range, and by cascading one circuit with the other, you can access even more sonic options, from subtle boosts to heavily distorted sounds. ■SILICON PREAMPLIFIER DRIVE – Controls the gain of the silicon preamp section. LEVEL – Controls the output level of the silicon preamp section. ■Germanium Preamp Drive? Controls the gain of the germanium preamp section. Level? Controls the output level of the germanium preamp section. ■ Send/return loop The Broadcast AP-II features a send/return loop between the two sections, allowing you to add other pedals between the preamps or place each preamp at a different point in your pedal chain. SEND – Sends a signal from the Silicon section to another pedal. This can also be thought of as the output of the Silicon section. RETURN – Returns the signal to the pedal. This can also be thought of as the input to the germanium section. If nothing is connected to the SEND or RETURN jacks, the signal is internally routed from the silicon section to the germanium section. Connecting anything to either the SEND or RETURN jacks (or both simultaneously) breaks this connection. ■Internal trim potentiometer The Broadcast AP-II has four trim potentiometers inside the pedal to set the gain and low frequency content of each preamp circuit.
