We really are lucky to have a huge diversity of awesome natives, ranging from the fuzzy blue banded bees and cuddly teddy bear bees to hard-working stingless bees and ingenious resin bees. I just love little bush Bees and in this painting l love how they are flying through the wildflowers and up into the sky - Grace Brown Native bees have huge cultural significance to indigenous people from many parts of Australia, and have played a part in their culture for thousands of years. Honey was highly prized and often given as gifts or traded as a valuable commodity. It was also used medicinally and for 'cleaning out the gut'. Indigenous Australians have been harvesting food from the bush for thousands of years, and sugarbag honey from native Australian bees is a popular form of bush tucker.
