DESCRIPTION This is an unusual hat in the sense that it is brown, as the overwhelming majority of bowler hats produced in Sweden are black. It was made by the Karlskrona Hattfabrik (Karlskrona Hat Factory), Sweden’s most significant hat manufacturer during the 20th century, operating from 1872 to 1972 in Karlskrona in southern Sweden. The hat was originally sold in a store called Grand, located in Växjö, also a city in southern Sweden. It is made of what is most likely rabbit felt, and as mentioned, it is brown, which makes it stand out. It was likely produced sometime during the 1940s or 1950s. The hat features a brown band and a finely crafted interior with a satin lining and a leather sweatband. The exterior condition is near perfect. However, there is some discoloration over a large portion of the interior lining of the hat. Of course, this is not visible when worn.
