Additional hammering creates multiple deep depressions in the surface, which, combined with full-body razing on both sides, produce a clear, dry stick attack and a rich, supporting bass response. The Byzance Foundry Reserve Series Ride is an incredibly versatile cymbal, characterized by a dry stick attack followed by a complex, deep, dark wash. Extensive hand hammering initially creates a low-pitched foundation, then develops a rich tone. Full razing adds a bright attack to the stick definition, followed by a rich, low wash. The cymbal's weight balance is just right: it's thick enough to clearly define a powerful stick sound that drives a band, yet remains open enough for a thunderous crash. The Light Ride offers a more flexible touch, rich overtones, and easy mallet response.
