The single-ply shells vibrate more freely than commonly used multi-ply shells, giving the SS Classic its warmth and delicate touch. -BEARING EDGE- The bearing edge is the point of contact between the shell and the drumhead. The precision of this bearing edge processing determines the tone and tunability of the drum. Noble & Cooley edges are lathed for maximum resonance and projection. Precision machined to within ten-thousandths of an inch, the bearing edges are hand-cut and checked twice on a machinist-grade granite plane.
