We have a used chestnut wood stave shell snare drum from Japanese handmade drum maker Koike Drums in stock! -koike drums- Koike drums are unique in terms of their manufacturing process, sound, and materials. A new sound was created by utilizing the sensibility of a craftsman who knows wood inside and out, and Japanese technology. Koike drums are made using the barrel method. By using a wooden mold for one diameter, boards of different widths can be assembled into a circle. I believe that the simple, refreshing form, finished by hand and using techniques passed down in a town that has lived in harmony with wood, is not unrelated to the sound it makes. This is the world's first attempt to use this technology on drums. We want to cherish the sound of wood that can only be produced in this area, In order to bring out the wood grain, it is only clear coated rather than using typical coatings or paints. Compared to other drums, it produces a softer, warmer sound. At Koike Drums, we are committed to using locally grown wood, and use two types of solid wood: chestnut and hinoki cypress. Chestnut is a relatively strong and durable wood, characterized by its powerful and beautiful grain. [Chestnut Stave Shell Snare Drum 14x6.5] Stave shell snares are made using the barrel manufacturing method and are characterized by an overwhelming thickness and powerful sound that is different from ply shells.
