It attenuates the guitar signal and routes it to the Fuzz section. It also affects the input impedance of the circuit, which is useful when combining with various effects. A matched impedance will result in a higher response. This is especially effective when using a wah pedal before the Katzenkonig. Many fuzz pedals have low input impedance, which narrows the sweep range of the wah pedal placed before it.
