[Product Features] Bluey is a Blue Stripe compressor modified from Chris Lord-Alge's Golden unit. A one-of-a-kind compressor has been born, heard on countless hit songs. With vintage analog tools, certain components are no longer available, forcing engineers to modify the circuitry. Like fine wine, some things get better with age, after decades of maintenance and repair. The scarcity of original parts allows technicians to deviate from the original design, improving and creating unique modified units. Legendary mix engineer Chris Lord-Alge, with his extensive experience producing hit records and extensive collection of coveted gear, recognized that one of his four 1176 Blue Stripes sits firmly in this distinctive category. The unit, named Bluey, has a special mojo that shines uniquely on vocal tracks. Wanting to increase the channel count of this golden unit, Chris contacted the people who know most about modding: the team at Black Lion Audio. Intrigued by Chris's praise of this unit, Head Design Engineer Jesus Ortiz flew from Chicago to LA to track down what gave this Blue Stripe its magic. He discovered that a series of modifications made over the years to keep it working miraculously made it the unique beast that is the 1176. BLA painstakingly dissected the unit and, working with Chris Lord-Alge, recreated this monster unit.
