Shortly after launching our first pedal line, we started asking people what pedals Lichtlaerm would like us to tackle. The results were overwhelmingly clear: an overdrive based on the classic green box we all know and love. At the same time, we started discussing a collaboration with the Facebook group "Heave Metal Amps & Pedals." After discussing features, the amazing Asia Sansalone offered to provide the artwork for this pedal, which turned out to be a great piece. We respected the original circuitry and kept the core sound intact, while striving to offer something new that is not found in similar pedals. The King in Yellow has a saturation and frequency response clearly based on TS-style overdrive, and as always we've added our highly acclaimed active 4-band EQ, voiced to perfectly suit the pedal. As usual, an additional charge pump raises the operating voltage to 36V internally, ensuring vast headroom, triple the output volume and clear EQ control, whilst also keeping the noise floor low. In addition to classic symmetrical clipping, we've added asymmetrical settings and LED clipping for increased dynamic range – all at the flip of a switch. The truly distinctive feature of King in Yellow is its parallel loop. You can blend the Yellow King with anything in your loop to create unique overdrive tones. The perfect mix of Klon-style clarity and TS cutting mids? No problem! BluesBreaker style break-up tones with a hint of SRV? Absolutely! Blend a modern metal boost with a time-tested screamer boost? Or blend Yellow King with HM2 to turn your amp into sonic chaos? Give it a try! Delays and modulations within the loop also create interesting textures, as the loop signal stays clean and is later mixed with the saturated parts. It can also be used as a splitter for a stereo setup with the polarity switch, which ensures the correct phase for both signals whether you're mixing it back or sending the output to another amplifier. Leaving the loop unconnected will give you a clean blend that will be mixed with the OD signal.
