The Overdrive Preamp 250, along with the TS-9 and OD-1, was a pioneering model in the early days of compact overdrive pedals. Some may consider it the ideal booster for a Marshall amp. This model comes in a gray body. It gained attention when a Scandinavian guitarist representing neoclassical metal used one of these gray models. This unit is believed to have been shipped around 1980 based on the part dates. While there are signs of wear, such as paint chipping on the casing and tarnish on the parts, it is in good condition, typical of vintage equipment. The battery snap has been replaced. The op-amp IC is a 741 series that characterizes the gray color period, and although it is an old IC, it may have been replaced along with the addition of a socket on the base. While its compatibility with ST-type guitars is a particular highlight, it produces a powerful, crisp overdrive sound with both single coil and humbucking pickups.
