The Taylor 100 series is an affordable line within Taylor's lineup, and its crisp, responsive sound is typical of Taylor guitars. The back and sides of the body are made of plywood, but sapele wood is used, and the top bracing has been redesigned by Andy Powers, resulting in a guitar with excellent natural resonance and high performance as an acoustic guitar. The pickup system features the highly acclaimed Expression System II, which is also used in higher-end models. The pickups on this ES2 are positioned to contact the side of the saddle rather than underneath it, resulting in a clearer sound with less compression, and allowing the vibrations of the entire body to be fully output. This body style model features Grand Pacific pickups, resulting in a sound characterized by solid bass, clear and warm midrange, and crisp treble. The 100 series body construction is characterized by its unique arched, rounded back, and features simple decorative elements such as black plastic binding, 4mm dot fingerboard inlays, and a satin finish.
