The Mellotron M4000D Micro brings the distinctive sound of the classic Mellotron and Chamberlin tape instruments to a compact, portable 25-key keyboard. As the smallest keyboard model in Mellotron's digital range, it retains many of the capabilities of its larger counterparts while offering a significantly smaller footprint for studio and live use. Its internal library contains 100 Mellotron and Chamberlin sounds sampled directly from original first-generation tape sources at 24-bit resolution without compression. This provides immediate access to the strings, choirs, flutes, brass and other characteristic sounds that made the original tape-based instruments such an important part of progressive rock, psychedelic music and countless recordings since the 1960s. The M4000D Micro also recreates one of the more experimental characteristics of tape playback with selectable half and quarter-speed operation, dropping sounds by one or two octaves for darker and more unusual textures. Dedicated controls provide immediate adjustment of volume, tone, pitch and the balance between two selected sounds. Two high-resolution displays provide clear visual feedback for sound selection and editing, while MIDI In, Out and Thru allow the M4000D Micro to integrate easily with larger keyboard and sequencing setups. Its internal sound library can also be expanded and updated using the dedicated card slot.
